 Jayanti, the daughter of Indra and his consort Shachi, is the wife of Shukra (planet Venus). Shukracharya is the guru of the asuras. He had gone to live with his grandson Aurva for some time. The place of Aurva, where he did penance, was later called Arab because of degeneration. Ancient Arabs called Sindh as Sindh only and chose to call other areas of Bhārata as Hind. As the name Sindh still exists, it is without any basis to say that the name Sindh degenerated to Hind for remaining states of Bhārata. Therefore, the claim that Sindh degenerated into Hind for the entire Indian subcontinent lacks a solid basis.
