96 Tattvas

 According to Siddha medicine system of Bhārata, the human body is composed of 96 tattvas.

5 Pūtam (பூதம், five elements) 

1.     Ākāśa (Ākāyam, ஆகாயம், Ether)

2.    Vāyu (Kāṟṟu, காற்று, Air)

3.    Agni (Tī, தீ, Fire)

4.    Jal (Nīra, நீர், Water)

5.    Prithvī (Maṇ மண், Earth)

5 Ñāṉēntiriyam (ஞானேந்திரியம், five sense organs of perception)

6.    Śrotra (Mey, மெய், Ear)

7.    Tvak (Mūkku, மூக்கு, Skin)

8.    Chakshu (Kaṇ, கண்¸ Eye)

9.    Jivha (Cevi, செவி, Tongue)

10.  Ghrāna (Nākku, நாக்கு, Nose)

5 Taṉmāttirai (தன்மாத்திரை, five functions of senses, Pulan) 

11.   Śabda (Cptam, ச்ப்தம், Sound)

12.  Sparśa (Sparicam, ஸ்பரிசம், Touch)

13.  Rūpa (Rūpam, ரூபம், Form)

14.  Rasa (Racam, ரசம், Taste)

15.  Gandha (Kantam, கந்தம், Odor)

5 Kaṉmēntiriyam (கன்மேந்திரியம், five organs of action, motor organs)

16.  Vāk (vākku, வாக்கு, Mouth for making sound and speech)

17.  Pāni (kai, கை, Hand for grasping and touching)

18.  Pāda (pātam, பாதம், Leg for ambulation)

19.  Pāyu (eruvāy, எருவாய், Anus for evacuation)

20. Upastha (karuvāy, கருவாய், Sexual organ for procreation and enjoyment)

5 Functions of Kaṉmēntiriyam (கன்மேந்திரியம்)

21.  Speaking (function of Vāk, vākku, வாக்கு, Mouth for making sound and speech)

22. Receiving (function of Pāni, kai, கை, hand for grasping and touching)

23. Walking (function of Pāda, pātam, பாதம், leg for ambulation)

24. Defecating (function of Pāyu, eruvāy, எருவாய், anus for evacuation)

25.  Procreation (function of Upastha, karuvāy, கருவாய், sexual organ for procreation and enjoyment)

4 Antakkaraṇam (அந்தக்கரணம், अन्तःकरण, four intellectual faculties)

32. Piṅkalai (பிங்கலை, Pingalā, the nerve beginning from the great toe of the left foot and passing up to the right nostril)

33.  Cuḻumuṉai (சுழுமுனை, Sushumnā)

34. Kāntāri (காந்தாரி, Gāndhārī, the nerve beginning at the navel and passing to the neck)

35.  Atti (அத்தி, Hastijihva)
